YOUTH TOUR 2027
Missouri Electric Cooperatives will be attending the Youth Tour to D.C. June 16-22, 2027.
The Youth Tour is an annual week-long all-expense-paid event that brings together approximately 100 high school juniors from Missouri and more than 1,600 juniors from all over the country to explore our nation’s capital and learn more about government, cooperatives, leadership and the sites of D.C.! High school juniors attending a school, or being home-schooled, in the Macon Electric Cooperative service area are eligible to apply.
To apply, students must submit an essay or video over the topic "What Do Rural Communities Have That Big Cities Can’t Replace”. Essays must be (600 to 800 words in length) using MLA format and contestant application (found below). If you include references or cite other works, be sure to provide a properly formatted Works Cited page. All essay entries must be grammatically correct and carefully proofread before submission.
Or create a video that is no less than three and no more than five minutes that responds to the Youth Tour prompt. In the entry form, please include the link to view the video via YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, etc. If you submit your video entry via Google Drive, keep an eye on your email as we may need to request that you provide permission access to view the video for the judges.
Applications and essays or videos are due Monday, March 1, 2027. The top eight finalists will be invited to participate in a personal interview. The top four overall total scores will be invited to attend Youth Tour, the four alternates will receive a $100 amazon gift card.
*All entries will be cross referenced for AI use. Use of AI that is not noted in the entry submission will be grounds for disqualification.
