“No lost time means that we had zero injuries resulting in an employee needing to take any time off work,” stated Dan Ulhorn, Macon Electric Cooperative’s Safety Coordinator. “This is the proof that our employees are working in a safe manner, and we are extremely proud of that.”

Macon Electric Cooperative’s General Manager Tim Korman says “Our goal is to provide our members with safe, affordable, and reliable electricity. We stress the importance of safety to all employees and work hard to ensure no accidents occur.”

The recognition came at the 2022 annual meeting of the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC), which is the Jefferson City-based statewide service organization for Missouri’s electric cooperatives.

“We are proud of the steps these cooperatives have taken to ensure each and every employee goes home to their families safe at the end of every day,” says Rob Land, vice president of risk management and training for the association. “We offer a tremendous amount of training that always stresses safety. But in the end, it is the employees themselves, who have created a culture of safety at these cooperatives.”

Macon Electric Cooperative serves about 11,300 meters in nine counties with 48 employees that maintain a 2,900-mile distribution system covering a 2,500-square-mile service area.
