No Lost Time

Macon Electric Cooperative (MEC) is proud to announce that our employees have achieved a remarkable safety milestone — a combined 416,584.24 hours worked with no lost time due to accidents.

This achievement was recognized by the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives (AMEC) during its 2025 annual meeting in Jefferson City. MEC was one of 35 Missouri electric cooperatives honored for maintaining an exceptional safety record.

“We are proud of the steps these cooperatives have taken to ensure each and every employee goes home to their families safe at the end of every day,” said Johnie Hendrix, Vice President of Risk Management and Training for AMEC. “We offer a tremendous amount of training that always stresses safety. But in the end, it is the employees themselves who have created a culture of safety at these cooperatives.”

Safety remains a cornerstone of MEC’s operations. Employees participate in monthly safety meetings, ongoing training, and regular certifications to ensure that safety is at the forefront of every task.

“Our team takes safety seriously—it’s part of who we are,” said Tim Korman, CEO of Macon Electric Cooperative. “Every employee plays a key role in maintaining our strong safety culture. I’m extremely proud of our staff for their continued commitment to working safely and looking out for one another.”

Macon Electric Cooperative extends its thanks to all employees for their dedication to maintaining a safe work environment and to AMEC for recognizing their efforts. Together, MEC continues to uphold its mission of providing reliable, safe, and affordable electricity to our members.
