Life Support Registration
Macon Electric Cooperative is committed to providing reliable electric service. However, severe storms, high winds or the need for system maintenance will occasionally cause extended power disruption. For members who have a severe medical condition and depend on electricity to power life support equipment, an outage can present a hardship. We advise those members to plan ahead and be prepared in the event of an outage. We recommend that you consider a generator, an alternate form of power, or make advanced arrangements to get to a facility that has backup generation.
If you or any member of your family depends on electrically powered life support equipment, complete and return our Life Support Registration Form – including your physicians contact information and signature. This will enable us to flag your account with a medical alert.

Keep in mind that placing your account on our Life Support Registry does not guarantee uninterrupted service, prevent electric service disruption, or relieve your responsibility to maintain an account in good standing. Nor does the Registry guarantee that members with severe medical conditions will be able to have their electric service restored following a natural or man-made power outage without consideration for the greater good and safety of the general public. Power must be restored in a particular manner and while this registration will not guarantee that you will be the first to have your power restored, it will help our employees make decisions when trying to restore power during a major outage situation.
We are in the process of updating our 2013 Life Support Registry and we need your help. Even if you have already turned in information in the past to be placed on our Registry, please complete and return a new Life Support Registration Form so we can insure that our records have been updated. If you are currently on our list and no longer need to be, please contact our office so we can remove your account from the Registry.
The Life Support Registration Form will need to be updated annually.
Please view this document on Generator Safety before installing emergency generation.
